Quad-Community Carol Crawl

2011 saw the first annual LINCNewOrleans Tri-Community Carol Crawl. St. Paul Lutheran Church & School (Marigny), Grace Baptist Church (Bywater), and Journey 9th Ward Fellowship Church (St. Claude) came together for the first time to “carol crawl throughout the three neighborhoods. They stopped at Belle Reve, an  in the Bywater and St. Margaret’s in St. Claude, both assisted living facilities. Below are a few photos that were snapped at the event:

2012 saw the second year of the “Carol Crawl” as well as an addition of the fourth and final neighborhood that makes up the “Quad-community”: St. Roch. This past year’s caroling was more of a rouge operation, thus no photos to capture this fun filled afternoon. The group was led by New Orleans’ next generation of leaders (ages 5-12) who would while walking to our next destination on our journey through the four neighborhoods, would stage whisper “Let’s sing to them!” towards an unsuspecting group sitting on a stoop or working outdoors.

This gumption turned out to be the very thing that made this Carol Crawl so special. So often when we think about Caroling or general “joy spreading” we pick the easy targets, the elderly and the home-bound.  These children inadvertently broke down all barriers merely because they had a song on their heart.

Though for reflection purposes, we regret not having any photos from this past year, snapping a photo or two may have disturbed the organic and intimate setting of the joy spreading.

Looking forward to the 3rd Annual Carol Crawl this coming December!!
